Metabolism Boosting Foods
Asparagus
Asparagus is a natural diuretic, which means it helps to flush the water out of your body. Throw out any diuretic pills you might have and load up on asparagus if you are feeling bloated. My dogs love to eat fresh asparagus.
Celery
Celery is often thought of as “diet food or rabbit food”. Those rabbits are pretty darn smart! They know the benefits of celery. It’s a thermo genic food fat burning food and did you know it has high levels of natural calcium too? Great to juice with and as a snack with some almond butter and my favorite blonde raisins.
Unheated Coconut Oil
I LOVE coconut oil and use it every day. I have a jar in the kitchen and in my bathroom. It’s great to cook with, or throw in a smoothie.
But listen to these other benefits. Improves digestion, stimulate the thyroid, help to decrease belly fat, controls blood sugar levels, it is anti microbial and is a great natural skin moisturizer.
Almonds
Almonds contain essential fatty acids that the body needs and can give your metabolism a boost. Just make sure you don’t get carried away and eat too many. Try adding them to a salad, or crushing them and sprinkling on your Greek yogurt or oatmeal.
Cucumber
Give the Cucumbers love, because they will love you back. High-alkalized water content, full of fiber, vitamins and nutrients and very low in calories. Great as a base for a smoothie and the fiber will help to fill you up and hydrate your skin. Throw in a salad or slice and eat with your meal.
Ginger
Have you tried ginger yet? You will after this. Ginger is great for boosting the metabolism. It is great for digestion, is anti-inflammatory, and has antibiotic and antifungal properties in the body. Ginger adds a wonderful punch of flavor to foods. I throw a huge knob in my juices and grate it and use it to cook with over veggies.
Green Tea
Organic Green tea has a host of health benefits. It is a known metabolism booster. I drink two cups of iced green tea a day. Green tea has antioxidants called catechins that eat up free radicals in the body. I put a tea bag in a glass of cold water and let it sit; add ice and it’s ready to drink.
Beans
Beans are nutrient dense and have a positive effect on your metabolism. They are a slow burning carb and will keep you full for a long time. Beans are great as a protein to add to salads and soups.
Lemon
Everyone should start his or her day with water and lemon juice. It helps to get the body going and to cleanse the digestive tract. The refreshing scent of lemon is a great mood booster. I always add lemon or limes to my smoothies and juices for an added boost of vitamin C. A lemon is acidic but once in the body it helps to alkalize and we need to keep those beautiful bodies in an alkalized healthy state.
Spinach
Do you know why Popeye ate his spinach? It was to help his muscles recover from training. Spinach is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. It is full of vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, magnesium, iron vitamin C, calcium, potassium, folate and B vitamins. WOW!! Spinach is great as a salad or my favorite throw a large handful into your Goddess Green Smoothie and boost up the nutritional value.
